Winespectator: 92 Punkte "Luca De Ferrari estimates losing about 50% of production overall in 2017. Besides frost damage in lower altitude plots, the summer drought resulted in reduced yields due to water stress and a strict selection of only the healthiest grapes. Rounding out Sangiovese, indigenous varieties Canaiolo Nero, Colorino and Mammolo lend attractive scents of rosehip and violet to counter earth, incense and iron nuances. Full and grippy, it eventually gives way to macerated cherry on the midpalate and the brightening acidity that lurks underneath. Well-executed."
Robert Parker: 90 Punkte "The 2017 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano offers a classic expression of this celebrated Tuscan appellation. The hot-vintage fruit is dark, ripe and fragrant. Aromas of black cherry, plum and toasted almond lift from the bouquet. This mid-weight wine offers a good level of refreshing acidity with an open-knit approach and some dusty tannins on the close. If you have a bottle, the wine is ready to drink straight out of the gate."
James Suckling 93 Punkte "A big, juicy Nobile with cherries, walnuts, chocolate and spice. It’s full-bodied, chewy and layered. Lots of tannins, yet it shows intensity and energy. Give this a year or two, but impressive now."
